My Elevator Pitch
“Leveraging my military leadership background, I aim to combine my MBA education, passion for technology, and UNC Game Development Club experience to pursue opportunities at the intersection of business and gaming. While I come from a non-traditional background, my interpersonal and managerial skills have been well honed after seven years of military service. This has enabled me to dedicate my focus to technical competencies such as learning Jira, Confluence, and Agile methodologies, familiarizing myself with the creation of Game Design Documents, and teaching myself the foundations of building projects in Unity. Additionally, to apply my business acumen in an industry-specific way, I conducted a case study analysis of Concord’s market segmentation and launch failure to showcase my aptitude in this field. I am confident that I can immediately contribute to a prospective employer by providing them with a versatile leader who can navigate cross-functional teams, generate creative marketing strategies, and analyze complex data to derive insights to help grow their consumer base.”
My Career Aspirations
Finding a new career where I could also feel like I was contributing to something greater than myself was my top priority when leaving the military. As a result, I am recruiting for internship positions with game developers and publishing companies for the summer of 2025 to pursue creative endeavors in the gaming sector through marketing, production, or management roles.
My Professional Experience
After commissioning as a U.S. Army Officer, I held the roles of Fire Support Officer, Executive Officer, and Lead Logistical Planner, ending at the rank of Captain. These positions afforded me the opportunity to lead strategically significant missions within the South Pacific, exercise my budgeting skills, and gave me the chance to work with diverse teams across several amazing countries and cultures. However, I chose to pursue a more stable lifestyle for my family, so I left the military and transitioned into a Marketing and Sales Manager role for the Watertown Wolves - a professional ice hockey team in upstate NY. In that time, I developed several marketing campaigns prior to starting my MBA at UNC Kenan-Flagler.
My Undergraduate Education
While earning my bachelor’s degree in marketing from Seton Hall University, I worked as a teacher’s assistant for the Office of Admissions, founded a campus athletic club, attended a cultural exchange program in Albania, and finally, worked as a Congressional Intern in Washington D.C.
